Air
The author and source of this is unknown to me. If anyone knows who wrote this, please let me know, so I can
ask their permission to have it on this site and give them credit.
Within the East we experience the element of air.
This is the realm of the mind, dawn and spring. We are contained within this element.
We walk through it, touch it, breathe it and feel its breeze upon our skin. From this realm
we draw in inspiration for our work and for our play. It is the breath of the God/dess.
Once the circle your circle is cast, sit facing the East.
Mentally draw an invoking pentagram of air in the east. Feel the energy of the element
rushing into the circle as a gentle, yet strong, breeze! Visualize bright blue skies before
you, interspersed with white fluffy clouds.
Air is the most intangible of the elements. Try as we may, we cannot control it. Unless we
lock it into a tightly closed container, we cannot limit its movement.
As a symbol of the freedom of air, its magickal animal is the Eagle. Like his element, the
eagle is associated with spring and all his colors are springtime pastels and flowery shades.
Sudden change is his specialty. Always in motion, the energy and gift of the eagle is
transformation and activity. Freedom is his life, and when the animal touches our own lives.
He gives us the freedom to change whatever we wish.
Now imagine that from the distance a creature is flying towards your circle. As he approaches,
it becomes larger than life! Until you can only see the magickal Eagle! Large and powerful,
he blows great gusts of wind with every stroke of his wings. He hovers before you and invites,
"Come and share my wings. Ride on the waves of the wind!" You climb on his back, and together
you fly into the skies! Slowly, as you soar amoung the clouds, you feel yourself dissolve
into the air, expanding until you no longer need the eagle to stay aloft.
Feel your soul becoming air, moving without direction and blowing about like the wind. Once
you have felt what it is like being air, withdraw into yourself.
Ask the eagle to give you a symbol representing his element. It may appear in the clouds,
he may take you to it, or he may mentally transmit the symbol to you. Remember the design.
This shall be your personal key to the powers of air!

The Dagger:
Find a triple-edged blade, preferably smaller than your athame.
Paint the handle a bright yellow and once dry, paint the air symbol that the eagle gave you
onto the hilt in white.
Cast your Circle and invoke the elements. Once you are secure within your cicle, cleanse the
dagger.
Face East and draw the invoking pentagram of air with your newly cleansed dagger.
Visualize the influx of energy. Mentally Will the powers you have invoked into the dagger.
realizing that the tool is a powerful symbol that you may work with the powers of air.
